ARDSI Hyd Deccan Chapter - Memory Screening Camp
Lions Clubs International District 324-C2, and District 324-C6, along with Senior Citizens Forum, Hyderabad – 500 080 has organized a day long World Senior Citizens Day at A.V. College, Domalguda, Hyderabad on Sunday 2nd October, 2011. More than 800 Senior Citizens from different Homes for Aged, Senior Citizens Associations and others have participated in the celebrations. Since last three years Memory Clinic, NIMS & ARDSI Hyderabad Deccan has been participating in the event by organizing Memory screening camp along with dementia awareness. The response Memory Screening camp was tremendous and many Senior Citizens were willing to know their memory and underwent memory test.
Three psychologists, six speech therapy Interns from Memory Clinic, NIMS have conducted comprehensive memory screening test. Three doctors from NIMS have done clinical examination for the participants. 38 people were screened, of which 8 people were detected with memory problems. They were advised to visit Memory clinic, NIMS for further assessments. All participants were given reports of their performance in memory test. Literature containing what is normal forgetfulness, early signs of dementia, tips for healthy aging was also provided to the participants. Dementia awareness was provided by displaying Faces of dementia banners, and distributing the dementia literature. The programme received good applause from the senior citizens.
