January Caregivers Meeting
Monthly caregivers meeting for January was held on 10th Jan 2009, 2:30 PM at Memory Clinic, NIMS. Session started off with an interactive exercise that highlighted the fact that a one-way verbal communication devoid of gestures and body language is ineffective even for a healthy person, and certainly insufficient for people with dementia.
Ms, Vani Rupela, SLP, in her presentation covered communication problems in dementia, and tips on how to deal with them. The session was a highly interactive one, with members of audience asking questions, clarifications, and providing their own insight on the subject. Participants were given communcation handouts.
